Κι έφτασε μια μέρα
που άφησες πιο πέρα
τα μπαγκάζια σου
κι ανέτοιμος από καιρό
όπως ήσουν,
περπάτησες με χέρια
κρεμασμένα
προς την έρημο.
Ξεμάκραινες ολοένα
και πιο πέρα, θυμάσαι,
καθώς τα βήματά σου
σε έφερναν
όλο και πιο κοντά,
μα ακόμα πιο μακριά
από τον στόχο σου.
Δίχως πυξίδα ή άλλο
σημάδι στον ορίζοντα
βάδιζες,
με πόδια να λυγούν
σε κάθε βήμα
μα όσο το κορμί σου
εγκατέλειπες,
τόσο γινόσουν σώμα
κι αίμα της ερήμου.
